I said I would keep my snowboarding photography out of this blog but I was so pleased with this shot at my local dry slope I thought I would share it with you, at least for a while.

I do most of my photography at this dry slope and we’re getting into the best time of year for it. Most of the riders are regular which means I stand to their right, looking over the valley into the sunset. A little fill flash et voila!
Obviously you need some complete nutters sliding down a bristle mat at 30mph on a plank or two but that’s the small stuff. The HARD part is pressing the button.

More moonlight!
I’m liking the feel I get from this process in Lightroom. Kind of snow laying on the ground through the trees across the lake!

I spent a bit of time with this, trying to bring out some colour - other than red/pink!
I really like the feel of this - a kind of “moonlight and roses” rather than bright sunshine in the middle of the day which is when it was taken. Anyway, hope you like. Comments welcome, as always.

I was out for a photowalk with the IR camera, intending to re-take some earlier photos with a more compatible lens and then Mrs. Duck and her family hop out of the lake and start walking abut round my feet.
I couldn’t beleive it.

This is a collection of photos taken on a walkabout near where I live and in central London.
My question for anyone looking is to ask whether they know what is causing the central “flare” in the images. I am guessing that it is the coating on the Sigma 30mm 1.4 lens I used as it doesn’t appear when I use Canon lenses.
Anyway, thanks for looking. As usual, any comments are welcome.

A couple of natural light portraits from our day out in Whistable. Hope you enjoy.

On the beach. A little light Lightroom work here but nothing major. The sky was very blue. Ash from the icelandic volcano?

Here the sons and girlfriends and cousins take refuge from the Ash.

Stripey door. Enlarged this takes on a very strange texture.

This was amazing. The blend of the old decrepit and the new, refurbished, side was very odd.

S’funny. Whitstable is known for it’s oysters and I’ve got lots of oyster shots in the collection but these boxes brought home to me the international nature of the industry here…

A rusty garage door. Except it’s not rust it’s wood preserver applied VERY badly!

DUST… from the volcano..

My mum is a keen archer (she’s the one on the left, shooting, below) and I took these in the Autumn last year. I managed to get several of the moment the arrow was “loose” as you can see. The archers were very pleased with the pictures I got as it is apparently difficult to get arrows in flight and the string vibrating like I managed in a couple of the ones below.
It’s a hobby and I love it.

Below you can see the string of the recurve bow vibrating at the moment of release. The arrow hasn’t passed the bow and is at maximum acceleration.

I think this is an 80lb longbow which means pulling the string back is equivalent to lifting an 801b weight. Quite a feat when you are loosing a dozen each end and maybe 12 dozen in a session.

I was at the in-laws for dinner this evening and I had my infrared camera with me so I thought I’d take a few pictures - just about “first light” for the camera. Many of them were interesting and possible worthy of a blog post in their own right but this one…
This one scares the living bejeebus out of me. Who are the little fella’s playing with the pond? The black boy in the middle? Where’d he come from?
I *promise* you I have NOT done anything with this in Photoshop or P-Elements. I’ve fiddled a tad in Lightroom but no cut and paste or clone or anything like that. Can anyone tell me what is going on?
