The East End, into the City

I’m a fan of the great British Curry and so I enjoy a wonderful area of East London, known as Brick Lane; some say Curry was invented here - if it wasn’t invented here then Brick Lane is at the very least its cultural home here in London. This post is a subset of a series of pictures taken on a walk from Brick Lane into the City.

I have a large Set on Flickr with the full sized versions of these images.

The first picture is of a street light on Brick Lane. I loved the colour of the underside of the light contrasting with the blue of the sky.

This was taken (with permission from the stall holder) at the Old Spitalfields Market. I took some nice shots of a camera stall there too. Some of the stall holders were MUCH less open about photography. The Flickr set has shots of a very grumpy Chinese lady who didn’t understand the concept of “Public”.. ho hum.

The shot below was taken through the (concrete) wall outside 135 Bishopsgate. I liked the sense of movement, busy-ness and yet a casual-ness too. I used this shot as the cover for my first photobook.

This is taken at Broadgate. The chap with the sun in his ear!

Hope you enjoy these. Comments welcome.

I am off to Dubai in 2 hours so I should hopefully get some nice pictures there…
